The official residence of the US ambassador in Athens, Greece, commonly called the Jefferson House, serves as the ambassador’s home and a venue for diplomatic events.
And it will soon be home to former Fox News personality, prosecutor and Donald Trump adviser Kimberly Guilfoyle, after the president-elect announced Tuesday that she would be his choice for U.S. ambassador to Greece.
While detailed public information about its history, architecture and interior features is limited due to security and privacy considerations, some aspects are known.
The residence is located in the affluent Kolonaki neighborhood of Athens, an area known for its neoclassical architecture and proximity to important cultural sites.
The building itself reflects traditional Greek architectural elements along with a Palm Beach, Florida aesthetic, harmonizing with the surrounding neighborhood. Its design includes columns and symmetrical facades, which are characteristic of the historical aesthetics of the area.
Inside, the residence is designed to accommodate private living quarters and spaces for official functions. The interior includes formal reception rooms, dining areas and meeting spaces, all furnished to represent American culture while respecting Greek artistic traditions.
Jefferson House plays a crucial role in US-Greece relations, hosting events that foster diplomatic, cultural and economic ties. Receptions, cultural gatherings and official meetings held at the residence contribute to the ongoing dialogue and partnership between the two nations.
The photos show that the property is surrounded by manicured gardens, a swimming pool and a veranda.
Notable events include Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s visit in October 2019 and several 4th of July celebrations.
The US Ambassador to Greece is George J. Tsunis, a Greek-American lawyer and businessman who assumed the role on May 10, 2022.
During his tenure, Ambassador Tsunis has organized several important events at the residence which included a reception in honor of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
On June 7, 2022, the ambassador’s residence was the site of the Fulbright Commission awards ceremony, celebrating educational exchange and cooperation between the United States and Greece.
The residence also hosted a reception for the FLEX alumni community, fostering connections between participants of US exchange programs.
Until Guilfoyle’s split from Donald Trump Jr., she lived with him in Jupiter, Florida in a six-bedroom, 11-bathroom, 11,200-square-foot mansion.
